Catching UP!

End of April pictures...
The students play and communicate everyday. They have formed solid friendships and really enjoy each other's company.

Students have mastered print awareness... they can find the title of the book and move left to right when "reading".

Playing math games with a partner is another great way to show cooperation, turn taking and math skills.

We worked on measuring length, height and mass in April and May.

Writing kindergarten style! First we think of an idea to share, then we draw a detailed picture and then use our letter/sound knowledge to label our pictures. The students have grown so much in hearing sounds in words they want to write down!

Outside play is always a favorite and a great opportunity to practice gross motor skills.

In May we started exploring 3D objects and where they are in real life. Check to see if your child can find; like a ball, like a box, like a cone, like a can around the house!

We brought the Ipads into the classroom to practice some letters and numbers.

Just making some dinner.

These girls have copying print down to a science. They have all shown such growth in their fine motor skills.

Free lunch from the City of Lacombe! Thank you so much!

Heading to the High School Science Field Trip! It was such fun exploring and playing with the Ooblek! The Science 20 students did an amazing job with the Kinder Kids and they worked hard to set everything up and provide a fun morning for the students!

We got new blocks! They are hollow and big and fun to build with. Thank you to Mrs. Duckett for buying them.

The boxes were pretty awesome, too!

These are our pumpkins from October... they finally got too moldy. The students found sprouts growing inside which led to us planting some seeds of our own. We have corn and beans growing in the classroom!

The girls were busy dancing on the trolley.

Morning play with friends. The students are free to roam where they like and are able to play with many different friends and with many different toys. So many new friendships have grown this year.

Sunny days are the best!

Planting pumpkin seeds in the green space.
Building with a variety of materials is one of the Kindergarten objectives...

Practicing counting on, number printing and counting groups to 12.

Exploring real life 3D objects... what can slide? what can roll? what can stack?

Playing in the garden. The stepping stones are fun to jump from... you don't want to fall in and get eaten by the sharks!

Most of the students were afraid to climb on this in September and now they are so proud to get up to the top!

The ants and caterpillars arrived! The ants have built a lot of tunnels in their gel home and the caterpillars are now all in chrysalis form. Now just waiting for the butterflies.

Checking out our corn!

Heading to the corn maze!

It was a fun day at the farm. So many things to do and see.

Stopping for a bit of lunch.

How are we the same? How are we different? What makes us UNIQUE??  Appreciating others' characteristics. Working on our Social Studies curriculum.

Communicating, collaborating, sharing, exploring and playing are all such a big part of our day and what Kindergarten is all about.

Heading to Boston Pizza! Wahoo!

We may have scared the geese into the water.

The magnetic garbage can was the coolest!

Making pizza with Natalie! Thank you for having us Boston Pizza!

Look at the size of that mixer.

Yummy pizzas were enjoyed by all!

Such great manners and sitting at the restaurant. Thank you Kinder Kids! You are the BEST!

That's the pizza cutting knife!

Stopped to play at the park!

Another busy day at Kindergarten. Thank you volunteers for your help!

It is hard to believe there are only 5 days left with this class. They have been so much fun and so many laughs and smiles with them. They have grown in every way and I couldn't be prouder and I hope you can see all the changes and growing and hard work they have done this year!

Have a good weekend... See you on Tuesday for swimming!

The K team.
