Candy Canes and Gingerbread!

What a fun week we had!! Mr. Elf has been visiting the classroom and we have been scientists making predictions and observations of our experiments. Santa has been making us find out some interesting things about candy canes and gingerbread. We have worked on our Christmas concert songs and can't wait to have our parents in to see us shine!
What makes a candy cane dissolve the fastest? Hot or cold water? Conclusion: hot water

Creating in playdough... this is M's birthday cake! She is so excited because her birthday is so close!

Making snowmen.. the playdough is very stretchy this week!

The aerial view of the Doctor's office!
The side view. What a great creation boys!

The barn was full of ponies.

Working on our problem solving skills!

The left hand gingerbread is in vinegar and the right hand gingerbread is in hot water. Which one will dissolve the quickest? Observation: neither of the gingerbread have dissolved yet... stay tuned until Monday.

The moostache!

Things were happening and growing on the boys during playdough! So fun to be silly!

Look who dropped in for Green Day!!

Listening and looking to help make predictions.

Wondering what is going to happen and using our senses! Some people thought the vinegar smelled good and others found it super smelly!

Collecting data! This one was easy to tell which had the most!
Happy Green Day from us all!

Don't forget Christmas Concert on Thursday at 6:30! Have a great weekend and we will see you all on Tuesday!

Season's Greetings!

Happy Red Day!

Red day started out with a visit from Mr. Elf who must have been talking with Mr. Monster because he left us Reindeer Cookies to help us remember letter Rr! Thanks to Mrs. Maris for baking them!

Here we are all dressed in red to inspire our festive spirit!
The students were busy building, counting, finding matching letters and writing their numbers during learning centers.

Working with a friend and bingo dobbers makes work more fun!

Identifying and copying patterns. We are getting so good! We have been working on 2 element patterns and changing them into letters!

Read to self!

The students love the new Christmas craft area! Many Christmas cards, pictures and presents are being made. It is a great place to practice our writing.

Building and constructing in the sand and block area.

We are working on our word problem solving skills!

Can't wait to see what Mr. Elf is up to this week! Don't forget it is Green day on Thursday. Looking forward to a beautiful week of weather, too!

See you on Tuesday,

Where did the time go??? It's December!

Time has flown right by the Kindergarten team! Getting ready for portfolios takes extra concentration:) Luckily that is just about all done and thank you to everyone who came in and met with me!

We have jumped right into December in the K class by practicing our Christmas concert songs, decorating the Christmas tree, playing in the snow, shopping at the White Elephant Sale and of course, an Elf has come to stay in our class!

We decided to Elf ourselves on Tuesday! It was a huge project and the students did a great job of cutting, gluing, following directions and bingo dobbing! (Thanks to firstgradeblueskies)
