Working Hard!!

With portfolio walks and open house out of the way I finally have a moment to catch up with what the students have been doing since the beginning of March! We have been very busy learning about zebras, alligators and giraffes (this week) by viewing and listening to information from a variety of sources. I hope your student has been sharing their learing with you!
What we already knew about zebras.
Working on our zebra art projects... you can check these out in the hall for zebra facts!
 Happy Alligator Green Day!
Sharing time!

Well, there used to be no snow! Make sure to bring your snow gear tomorrow!

Lots of clovers to count. M did a great job of marking each clover as she counted to get 13. Did you know that was one group of 10 and 3 more?
Creating stories about going to soccer and the alligator was eating the saber tooth tiger! It is always fun to listen while the students play. They have stories to tell and imagination to share!

L made me a clothesline to hang things to dry!

Super hero day! We had some new students come:)

Super Elvis!

Ironman to the rescue!

Working on measuring! Did you know it takes 6 students to be as long as a wild alligator?
Finding things longer than our measuring stick!

Measuring carefully...making comparisons!

Longer than, shorter than and the same as our measuring sticks! Look at all the objects we found!

Swimming fun! (pictures are always a bit blurry at the pool)

Lots of jumping in the pool!

A mermaid came to visit!

"It was so fun to go swimming, Mrs. Eberts!"

And one silly one  of the superhero group!

See you tomorrow! Don't forget to dress for the snow!

Coming in like a LION!

March has arrived so quickly and is bringing a bit of cold weather with it! Don't forget to dress warmly for recess tomorrow!
We have been working on getting ready to show off our amazing learning... don't forget portfolio walks next week.
Take a look at what we have been up to!

Scooping, pouring and comparing the size of containers. (exploring capacity)

The 3 Bears was a popular fairy tale and the students have incorporated the Bears into their play.

We have listened to and watched different versions of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears and the students are taking turns retelling the story.

We have amazing building going on everyday! Structures for cars, building with lego (where they make amazing cars and more), walkie talkies, dinosaurs, houses, restaurants and more!

Playdough is another popular center in the classroom. Students work their fine motor muscles and create cookies, cakes, monsters, snowmen, cupcakes, snakes and more. Sometimes we get a bargain price on cookies and sometimes they are $10,000!!

Crafting is another center that is busy! Students create cards, little monsters, decorate boxes, cut, glue, write and give to friends and family!

Funny faces! We have the best students in the whole school! So many laughs and fun all day long!

Sorting has come a long way from the start of November! Students can easily sort a variety of objects in more than one way!

Big magnets make amazing things! This is a city that T made!

We have been playing war with 10 frames to practice recognizing which group is more, less or the same.

Kindergarten can wear you out!

More math... this time working on building a staircase (number order) and subitizing the dice!

Look at this amazing magnet structure! That took some perseverance and time to get that to not fall over!

Last time at the lab we worked on logging ourselves on... such long log ins for the K group! But they did really well and once logged on they got to visit some Green (safe) sites!

 The animals came to visit!
 Writing letters!

Cutting squares!

 Puppet play fun!

This week we are going to tackle the letter W and finish up our fairytale unit! Then onto the zoo....

Have a great Monday! Don't forget library books tomorrow!
