We Ate Dirt Today!

Today we continued our exploration of capacity. We discussed attributes of our containers (wide, skinny, tall, short) and picked out ones that might have a large capacity and ones that might have a small capacity. We then filled our container full (but not overflowing) and did a BIG number count using 10 frames. The smallest capacity was 20 blocks and the largest capacity was 135 blocks! With a bit of assistance we used our counting by 10 skills to help us out!

We also read Diary of A Worm. When the students were done they were asked to draw a picture of their favorite part, using as much detail as possible and then were asked to recall the main character and talk about their picture. They did a super job of their pictures!

The BEST part of the day was EATING DIRT!! The students had fun crushing cookies, burying their worms and then eating the dirt!

Have a great day and don't forget about swimming tomorrow!

See you in the morning!

Looking for spring!

Well, it sure was a cold week to start outside recess, but the students did a great job of playing and keeping warm while we were outside. They are doing a good job remembering to come to the B den playground in the morning, picking up their backpacks on the way inside and then getting ready to go out again at 10:30 for recess! This week we have been planting some seeds, checking them for root growth, drawing the seed lifecycle, talking about the needs of plants, working on our Mother's Day cards, watching a junior high band perform, had class photos, centers, tech time, writers workshop and got our ant farm! It was a busy week! Below are some photos ;)

Wishing all the wonderful moms in our class a very Happy Mother's Day!

Don't forget the Family Dance is Friday night in the school gym!

Reminders for next week: Western Day on Monday the 12th and we will continue heading outside before school starts and at recess. Be sure to dress warm for the weather!

See you on Monday,
The K team!
